Workshop (October 23 & 24, 2017)

STREAM 1

Bram Van de Meer - Interviewing in a Threat Assessment Context

In threat assessment practice people often possess critical information that is not recorded in any other source of information. This makes the interview one of the most important methods of in

formation gathering. But, the interview is also one of the areas where most mistakes are made, because people and their behaviour are contextual and dynamic in nature. Behaviour is often misinterpreted or miscommunicated and the interviewer not always successful in remaining the objective ‘fact finder’.

This 2-day workshop will help identify such pitfalls and difficulties that practitioners run into during their data collection. Participants will learn specific skills and techniques that will enable them to conduct more effective interviews and generate useful information from those they assess.

Mr. Van der Meer is a psychologist and threat management professional, holding academic degrees in criminology from the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and clinical psychology from Leiden University (The Netherlands). Avis link 2017 Annual CATAP Workshop & Conference

If you prefer to call AVIS, their number is 1 (800) 331-1600. To make reservations, attendees should provide the AVIS reservations agent with this AWD number (D594021) to ensure they receive the best available car rental rates.

The AWD discounted prices will be valid from seven days prior to the event until seven days after the event. Of course, you can book at any time and should do so ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Car/Ride Share

We are working to put together a resource for attendees to share rides/rental car costs, for which they have independently hired. The idea would be that if you've rented a car and have (for example) 3 extra spaces you could offer up those spaces to attendees who would then join your car and share the rental costs with you. If you don't rent a car then, you can always join someone else's car with free spaces. The link to this resource will be posted asap.
